Discover the Rainforest of Bukit Lawang

After breakfast, your guide will pick you up at your guesthouse around 9:00 AM to begin your jungle trekking experience in Bukit Lawang.

The trail starts with a scenic walk along the river before climbing through local paths and rubber plantations toward the entrance of Gunung Leuser National Park.

Once you enter the rainforest, you will begin exploring one of the most biodiverse tropical ecosystems in the world. Along the way, you may have the chance to encounter semi-wild Sumatran orangutans in their natural habitat.

Watching these incredible primates move through the trees, feed, or care for their babies is one of the most unforgettable highlights of a jungle trek in Bukit Lawang.

As you continue trekking, your guide will help you search for other wildlife such as Thomas Leaf Monkeys, Long-tailed Macaques, Pig-tailed Macaques, colorful tropical birds, and many unique rainforest plants.

During the trek, you will stop to enjoy fresh tropical fruits and admire beautiful viewpoints overlooking the Bohorok River valley and the surrounding jungle.

Around midday, enjoy a delicious jungle lunch prepared in nature, surrounded by the peaceful sounds of the rainforest.

After lunch, continue trekking through the jungle for a few more hours, discovering more of the rainforest and learning about the local flora, fauna, and jungle environment from your guide.

In the afternoon, your trek finishes with one of Bukit Lawang’s most fun traditions — the famous jungle taxi tubing ride.

Float back down the beautiful Bohorok River on large rubber tubes and enjoy a refreshing return to the village.

At the end of the tubing experience, your guide will bring you back to your guesthouse, usually arriving around 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
